TXSRT and ASRT Student to Leadership Development Program
Jillian Cole – Laufer: ASRT – TxSLDP
My name is Jillian and I am a first-year Radiologic Technology student at Austin Community College in Round Rock. This spring I will be starting clinicals for the first time and am really looking forward to the hands-on experience I’m about to gain. I already have quite a passion for radiology and am very interested in mammography, radiation therapy, and MRI. I’m incredibly eager to learn and grow through this program and am looking forward to not only the relationships I will make but the knowledge I’ll gain so I may help others along the way. Outside of school I love being a mom, spending time with my family, all things Lego and learning!.
Mandy Respondek: ASRT – TxSLDP
My name is Mandy and I am from League City, Texas (right between Houston and Galveston). I am currently in my first year of Radiologic Technology school at College of the Mainland and I love every minute of it! Upon completion I plan on attending school for Radiation Therapy and hope to one day work at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. When I’m not in school I love to hangout with my friends, watch movies, and read! I am so grateful for the opportunities and growth my future holds with the ASRT and TxSRT!
Andrew Valencia: ASRT – TxSLDP
Andrew Valencia is a first-year MRI student and 16-year Army veteran committed to leadership, service, and clinical excellence. As a participant in the TxRST Student Leadership Development Program, he seeks to strengthen professional advocacy and leadership within medical imaging. His military experience developed strong skills in teamwork, accountability, and decision-making under pressure—principles he will apply to patient-centered MRI practice. With a strong interest in advanced MRI technology and diagnostic accuracy, Andrew is dedicated to ethical practice, continuous learning, and advancing the profession through service and collaboration.

Ariel Goerner: Texas Intern
My name is Ariel Goerner, and I’m a dedicated and driven individual originally from Dallas, Texas, currently studying in Houston to pursue a career in Radiation Therapy. With eight years of experience as a medical liaison in the military, I have developed exceptional skills in thriving under pressure and performing well in both team-based and independent environments. My passion for helping others is reflected in my strong communication skills, allowing me to collaborate effectively and adapt swiftly to new challenges.
John Groppell: Texas Intern
My name is John and I am currently enrolled at LSCS – Montgomery. After realizing that Computer Science was not for me and wanting something more hands-on, I began my journey in the Radiologic Sciences and look forward to graduating in December 2026. I want to get CT certified afterwards and am excited for this opportunity!
