We are aware of the recent Texas Medical Board requirement to track continuing education (CE) through CE Broker. If your Texas Medical Board license renewal is approaching, please follow the Texas Medical Board’s instructions for reporting your CE credits through CE Broker.

TxSRT does not maintain or track members’ CE records and therefore cannot transfer CE credits to CE Broker. In addition, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has indicated that CE Broker currently does not have the technical capability to accept a direct transfer of ASRT member CE credits at this time.

Because of this limitation, licensees will need to report their CE activities directly in CE Broker as required by the Texas Medical Board.

If you have questions regarding CE Broker reporting or documentation requirements, we recommend contacting the Texas Medical Board or CE Broker directly

Call to Action: Submit Your Letter of Opposition – NCT Rule Amendment

TxSRT strongly opposes the proposed amendment to §186.26 regarding education standards for Non-Certified Technicians (NCTs).

View the Proposed Amendment:

Proposed Amendment

This proposed rule would allow NCTs to complete training in only one anatomical area, rather than a comprehensive curriculum, potentially reducing total training to approximately 66 hours.

Why This Matters:

TxSRT has significant concerns about the impact of this change:

  • No clear enforcement mechanism to ensure NCTs only perform exams in the area in which they were trained

  • Risk of improper positioning and technique in untrained anatomical areas

  • Increased likelihood of repeat imaging, leading to:

    • Higher healthcare costs

    • Delays in patient care

    • Increased radiation exposure

  • Poor image quality may result in:

    • Diagnostic delays

    • Misdiagnosis

  • Modern imaging equipment is increasingly sophisticated, requiring deeper understanding to avoid:

    • Artifacts

    • Misinterpretation of computer-generated images

TxSRT Position:

TxSRT opposes this proposed amendment and supports maintaining current educational standards unless clear safeguards and enforcement mechanisms are established to protect patients. We are asking all TxSRT members to take action today by submitting a letter of opposition. We need voices from across the profession: radiologic technologists, educators, administrators, students, and patients.
