Student Eligibility

  1. Radiologic Science, Radiation Therapy, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and MRI students in an accredited Radiologic Science or Medical Imaging Program who are not already registered or certified in a primary modality are eligible to enter this competition. If a student is registered or certified after the entry deadline but prior to the award announcement, the student will retain eligibility.
  2. The student must be a TXSRT member by February 21, 2022 and at the time of the 2022 Annual TXSRT online membership applications can be found at www.txsrt.org
  3. TXSRT reserves the right to limit the number of displays for this competition to 25.  The first 25 displays which meet these rules and regulations will be accepted.  Educators and students will be notified of any limitations by the Vice President of TXSRT via email as the deadline for submission approaches

Application Process

  1. Applications will be accepted between January 10 and February 21, 2022.
  2. The student must complete an online 2022 Application for the student Scientific Display Competition.
  3. While filling out the application, the student(s) will upload a Program Director verification letter of the student status. The attached letter from the Program Director must be on college/school letterhead and must be dated no later than February 21, 2022.
  4. The display does not need to be complete at the time of application, but the student(s) will be required to submit the title of their display.
  5. A student(s) may submit only one display, for the 2022 Annual Meeting and only two (2) student authors per display.

Displays and Subject Matter

  1. All displays will be a 36” tall and 48” wide tri-fold poster and should be able to stand up right. If any supports are needed, the student must provide those and they must fit on the table.
  2. All photographs, x-rays, charts, and/or legends must be a component of the poster board (matted, mounted, printed, etc.).  These items and other artifacts may be placed either on the 3-panel display board or on the table in front of and within the parameters of the 3-panel display board.
  3. The exhibitor’s subject matter must be related to Radiologic Science or a form of medical imaging.  Charts, descriptive materials, technical factors, photographs, and artifacts may be used and are encouraged to supplement the exhibit.  Emphasis should be placed on originality of viewpoints and technical excellence.
  4. AMA or APA formatting must be used. All visual components of the display must have an appropriate citation below them.  In-text citations must be used for any text in the display.  The last part of the display should be a properly formatted reference list.  This reference list will typically be in the lower right column of the display.
  5. Acceptable font styles for the text in the display are Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, or Courier. The font size that is chosen should be readable, and should remain consistent throughout the display.  Larger size fonts are allowable for headings, and smaller size fonts are allowed for image attributions and the reference list.
  6. The student’s name, name of any institution, and patient information must be blocked off all x-rays and artifacts on the display.  Any identification of a particular student, group or institution may not be included in the display.  The display must be HIPAA compliant and completely anonymous to the viewing public and judges.
  7. Displays must be up and available to the judges no later than 8:00 am, Friday April 8th at the designated place. Set-up will be available Thursday afternoon as well.
  8. The competition is founded on creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship.

Display Judging

  1. The Vice President of TXSRT and/or the display chair will appoint the judges for the Student Scientific Display Competition.  Only the Vice President of the TXSRT and/or the display chair shall know the names of the judges.  There will be a minimum of three (3) judges selected for the final judging of the competition.
  2. Judges will review the display to see if it meets TXSRT Rules.
  3. Judges scores will reflect their evaluation of the display using the included rubric.
  4. The judges are responsible to the Vice President and display chair.
  5. The decisions of the judges shall be final.

Conflict Resolution

Any questions regarding the eligibility of a student which cannot be settled by the Vice President, eligibility status will be decided by the TXSRT Board of Directors and Officers and their decision shall be final.

Presentation of Awards

The presentation of awards will be at the annual conference at a date and time which will be published.  Any unclaimed awards will be sent the student via their program.
