2021 Election Results

CONGRATULATIONS!

On behalf of the Nominating Committee we are proud to announce the 2021-2022 TXSRT Board Officers.

President-Elect

Rodney C. Fisher, PhD, RT(R)(N)(CT)(BD), CNMT

Position Statement

State affiliates have a crucial role in advocating for and growing our profession.  As an educator, I stress to my students the importance of being involved as a professional.  I encourage their membership and participation in organizations such as TXSRT, ACERT, and ASRT.  While only a small portion of our students will be actively involved in professional organizations after graduation, it is important to expose them to both the benefits of participation, and the need for their participation.  They are our future.  It is also important to have a strong presence in the “now”.  As radiologic technologists, we must protect our scope of practice from other healthcare professionals who do not have the training or experience to image our patients.  We must also be aware of emerging technologies and be able to grow our scope of practice as the technology changes and evolves.  We must educate lawmakers into the laws and regulations needed for our profession and the protection of our patients.  I have benefited from those who took the lead to protect and grow what we have, and I believe it is incumbent upon me to take my turn and offer my industry and leadership.

Vice President

Gerardo Ortiz, MBA, BSRT, RT. (R), (CT), (MR)

Position Statement

I choose to be a vice presidential candidate so I can help support the TSRT. Selecting someone like myself as the vice president so we mobilize new membership, assist in governing, support our field, make a strong voice on issues concerning our field and unify greater collaboration of the state society to include the remote areas. This is critical to helping make important decisions, implementing the legislative agenda, and honoring commitments. I feel fortunate that we have been able to produce some of the best Radiological continuing educational conferences here in El Paso. The possibility of serving the society in a greater capacity is very gratifying.

As always, I have a great deal of pride in our society and will be proud to serve.

Secretary-Treasurer

Jennifer Otrezov, RT(R)(CT)

Position Statement

My time with TSRT has given me the pleasure to see our Society flourish and become stronger because of the wonderful volunteers and members. I am honored to be nominated for the Secretary-Treasurer position again. I plan on being committed and being an advocate for the Radiology profession.
