TXSRT and ASRT Student to Leadership Development Program

TXSLDP/ASRT SLDP Participants at the ASRT 2023 House of Delegates meeting in Reno, Nevada

• Each year two students are selected by alumni of the TXSLDP program to participate in a 3-year program with both the state and national organization
• Students participating in this program will participate with the TXSRT Board of Directors and with the ASRT staff and officers learning:
  • State Meeting Planning
  • State Advocacy
  • State and Governance Overview
  • Parliamentary Procedures and Advocacy
  • Strategic Planning
  • Legal Issues and Affiliate Compliance
  • Association Management and Communication
  • Leadership Principals
• TXSLDP students will have their travel expenses paid for the annual state meeting and to the national ASRT meeting.  In 2024 the state meeting will be held on the campus of Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, April 11 – 13.  The ASRT meeting will be held in Orlando, Florida, in June 2024.
• TXSLDP students will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship by TXSRT upon successful attendance at both the state and national meetings.
• Applications for the TXSLDP program for 2024-2026 will be accepted in Fall 2023.  Participation requires both TXSRT and ASRT membership.

Rising Star Award

• Each year, TXSRT recognizes one student with the Rising Star Award
• The award comes with a $1,000 scholarship
• Students are nominated by their programs and voted by the TXSRT Board of Directors
• Students must be TXSRT members at the time of nomination and the time of the award.  The award is presented at the Annual Meeting.

Scholarships

• Each year, the Board of Directors awards five (5) $500 scholarships to TXSRT students members
• Students write a 500-word essay on that year’s topic
• Scholarships are awarded at the Annual Meeting

Student Contests

• Each year students compete in the following contests:
  • Award of Merit Scientific Essay Contest
  • Scientific Display (Poster) Contest
  • iLEAD Presentation (15-minute presentation at the Annual Meeting)
  • Roentgen Student Bee Contest (Kahoot quiz contest at the Annual Meeting)
  • RAD Tees T-shirt Contest (Presented at the Annual Meeting)
• Each contest comes with medals and monetary awards ($150 1st Place, $100 2nd Place, $50 3rd Place)
• Students must be TXSRT student members to participate
