Serve on the TSRT Board of Directors

The Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists has a five member Board of Executive Officers. The TSRT membership elects the vice president each year. The Board of Executive Officers is a move up position starting as President elect, President, and Board Chair, with the Vice President holding a one-year term and Secretary Treasurer serving a two-year term. The new board is always presented to the membership at the TSRT Annual Meeting prior to serving their terms of office.
Vice President

Duties: The TSRT Vice President is elected by the TSRT membership in the annual election and serves for a one-year term. The TSRT Bylaws describes the duties of office. The primary duties of the vice president are to serve as a member of the TSRT Board of Executive Officers and assume the duties of president when necessary. In the event that the president vacates the office, the vice president assumes the duties of the president.

Time Commitment: The vice president can expect to spend a minimum of 5-10 hours per week answering emails, reviewing documents and working with TSRT staff. Some of this time is during regular working hours, some is after working hours and some is on weekends. The vice president is expected to attend all TSRT Board of Directors meetings and the Annual Meeting. Other requested travel may include representing TSRT at the ASRT House of Delegates Meeting or Austin for Legislation. The vice president should expect to spend a minimum of 20 days attending TSRT meetings and functions. These travel days occur during the week and on weekends.

Qualifications: Must currently practice in the radiologic science or health care profession. Be a current voting member of the ASRT for at least two years. Be a voting member of the TSRT. Be able to show proof of earned continuing education credits in the radiologic science. Served on a TSRT committee or an appointed position for a minimum of one year. Shall have been active in the committee or appointed position.
Skills: Able to manage multiple projects, comfortable speaking and presenting to large groups, attention to detail, familiar with parliamentary procedure, knowledge of TSRT governance and practice standards processes and able to build collaborative relationships and manage conflict within groups.
President Elect

Duties: The TSRT President-elect is a move-up position. The individual serves for a term of one year. The President elect automatically assumes the position of President the second year and assumes the office of Board Chair the third year following election as President-elect. The primary duties of the president-elect are to serve as a member of the TSRT Board of Executive Officers, serve as a member of the Legislative committee, make appointments for presidential committees during term as President and prepare to assume the office of President the following year.

Time Commitments: The president-elect can expect to spend a minimum of 5-10 hours per week answering emails, reviewing documents and working with TSRT staff. Some of this time is during regular working hours, some is after working hours and some is on weekends. The President-elect is expected to attend all TSRT Board of Directors meetings and the ASRT House of Delegates Meeting. Other requested travel may include representing TSRT at affiliate meetings and meetings with other organizations. The president-elect should expect to spend a minimum of 20 days attending TSRT meetings and functions. These travel days occur during the week and on weekends.

President

Duties: The TSRT president serves for a term of one year following service as TSRT President-elect. The primary duties of the president are to serves as a member of the TSRT Board of Executive Officers, serve as the official spokesperson for the TSRT, serve as TSRT liaison to external organizations, serve as a member of the TSRT legislative committee, serve as TSRT Board liaison to Presidential committees, preside at Board meetings, present an annual report of the Board of Directors’ activities and election results at the Annual Meeting and prepare to assume the office of Chairman of the Board the following year.

Time Commitment: The president can expect to spend a minimum of 10 hours per week answering emails, reviewing documents and working with TSRT staff. Some of this time is during regular working hours, some is after working hours and some on weekends. The President is expect to attend all TSRT Board of Directors meetings and the TSRT Annual Meeting, as well as a delegate to the ASRT House of Delegates meeting. Other requested travel may include representing TSRT at affiliate meetings and meetings with other organizations. The president should expect to spend a minimum of 30 days attending TSRT meetings and functions. These travel days occur during the week and on weekends.

Skills: Able to manage multiple projects, be comfortable speaking and presenting to large groups, have an attention to detail and knowledge of TSRT/ASRT governance processes, be able to build collaborative relationships and concisely communicate TSRT’s position with clarity and tact and manage conflict within groups.
Chairman of the Board
The outgoing president automatically assumes the position of Chairman of the Board.

Duties: The TSRT chairman of the Board serves for a term of one year following service as TSRT President. The primary duties of the chairman of the Board are to manage the TSRT Board of Directors and Executive Office, serve as the official spokesperson for the TSRT Board of Directors, serve as a member of the TSRT Legistlative Committee, serve as an ASRT HOD alternate, serve as Board liaison to the Committee on Nominations and serve as Board liaison to the ASRT and ARRT.

Time Commitment: The chairman of the Board can expect to spend a minimum of 5-10 hours per week answering emails, reviewing documents and working with TSRT staff. Some of this time is during regular working hours, some is after working hours and some on weekends. The chairman of the Board is expect to attend all TSRT Board of Directors meetings and the TSRT Annual Meeting. Other requested travel may include representing TSRT at affiliate meetings and meetings with other organizations. The president should expect to spend a minimum of 20 days attending TSRT meetings and functions. These travel days occur during the week and on weekends.

Skills: Able to manage multiple projects, be comfortable speaking and presenting to large groups, directing a group of people to come to a decision, familiar with parliamentary procedure, have an attention to detail and knowledge of TSRT/ASRT governance processes, be able to build collaborative relationships and concisely communicate TSRT’s position with clarity and tact and manage conflict within groups.

Executive Office Manager

Duties: The EOM will manage and direct the organization towards the objectives and goals as set forth by the Board of Directors. Plan, coordinate and control the daily operation of the organization. Work directly with the TSRT Board Officers. The EOM will serve as an advisor to the Board of Directors. They will work to implement current and long range goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the organization as set forth by the Board of Directors. Have the ability to dispense advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures, consistent with the established policies and Board of Directors approval. Assist in overseeing the organization financial structure. Oversees the day to day financial spending of the organization to maintain adequacy and soundness of the organizations financial structure. Coordinate financial reports with the TSRT Board Chair. Plan and direct all investigations and negotiations pertaining to corporate sponsors with the TSRT Board Chair. Establish and maintain an effective system of communication with the Board of Directors and the membership. Represent the Organization to the State Legislature, corporate sponsors, donors, financial supporters, and the public. Work with the TMB regarding issues related to licensure in Texas. Work with the Technology and ODM Committee Chair to maintain and manage the TSRT web site.

The EOM acts as the Executive Secretary for the organization. They coordinate and keep records of all meetings, proceedings of correspondence, financial statements and publications of TSRT and the Board of Directors. Electronically record and maintain all minutes of the Board of Directors Meetings. Serve on the financial audit committee to assist in the overseeing of the financial structure of TSRT. Post minutes on the TSRT website as approved by the Chair. Send notices of meetings by email to members of the organization as required. Maintain current membership database of the organization. Work with accounting firm to help maintain all books, records and documents as required by law. Assist with publications and distribution of all TSRT official publications and literature (Tex-Rays & Tex-Points). Prepare and maintain the financial records of the organization and present a report to the Board Chair for review.
