Jeanifeer Lara

I am so happy to be a part of such an amazing organization that I had to extend my servitude. I join the team with 20-plus years of clinical radiology, radiologic education, and administration experience. I enjoy the excitement and energy that new generations of imaging professionals bring to the society as well as the highly versed experience of those that continue to serve our great organization. Currently, my work is in professional development, and I am currently employed at Harris Health System in Houston, TX.  I look forward to the transformative contributions our 2023-2024 board of officers will bring to our professional state society.

Rachel Whatley

Rachel Whatley, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R) has been working toward becoming an educator in medical imaging since she was an entry-level student at MSU Texas. As a participant in the 2013 Student Leadership Development Program, ASRT paired her with Dr. James Johnston as her mentor. Working with Dr. Johnston taught her to love the field of education and research nearly as much as she loves medical imaging and caring for patients. As an active-duty military spouse, she has had many unexpected opportunities within our profession. From 2015 to 2017, Rachel sat on the New Mexico Society of Radiologic Technologists (NMSRT) board of directors. She left the NMSRT board in 2017 to accept an employment opportunity with the ASRT as the Chapters and Governance Coordinator. Rachel worked at the ASRT office coordinating chapter business and helping with the Student Leadership Development Program until she returned to Texas in the summer of 2020. She has spoken at multiple state and national conferences. She is grateful to bring her experiences back home to TXSRT and MSU Texas and hopes to share them with her students and colleagues.

Vice President Secretary-Treasurer Executive Office Manager
Kathryn Verdun

Kate Verdun, RT(R), has been a Radiologic Technologist since 2003 and is the current interim department chair at Austin Community College. Although she was originally from Missouri, she has lived in Texas for twenty years and is fortunate to call Texas her home. Her first x-ray job was at a Level 1 trauma center in Missouri, where she fell in love with the fast-paced environment of a busy emergency room and surgery department. After moving to Texas, she worked as a radiographer and lead technologist in a Level II Trauma hospital in Round Rock, TX. She cross-trained in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and worked as a multi-modality tech for several years. In addition to these roles, she also served as the Clinical Instructor for the Radiography students who were interning at her facility. In 2015, she took a full-time faculty position in the Diagnostic Medical Imaging-Radiology program at Austin Community College. She completed her Master’s Degree in Adult Education and has served as Clinical Coordinator and as the interim department chair.  She is also a site visitor for the JRCERT.

Sebastian Medina

Sebastian Medina, RT(R), grew up in a suburb east of Dallas and currently lives in San Antonio. He works in an EP lab and loves learning. As a student, he was a member of the ASRT Student-to-Leadership Development Program.

Courtney Snyder

Courtney Snyder, MA,  has been the Executive Office Manager of TXSRT since January 2021 and is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors.  She holds a master’s degree in Human Resources Management.  She is a past department secretary to the Shimadzu School of Radiologic Sciences at MSU Texas and was the administrative assistant to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Human Services at MSU Texas.  She is currently a legal assistant in the Texas Tech University System and is based in Wichita Falls, TX.  She has twin teenage boys.

Student Interns / SLDP Participants
Allison Hughes

My name is Allison Hughes. I am entering my second semester at North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas. It has been a wonderful journey- I cannot wait to begin clinical rotations and immerse myself in new knowledge, innovations and technology. I am currently employed as a technologist aide in Lewisville, Texas. The exposure has been incredibly insightful. I have never felt so aligned with a career path.

Reynaldo Zamora

Reynaldo Zamora is a first-year radiography student at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  He is looking forward to participating at both the state and national level with TXSRT and ASRT during his education and after graduation.
